Hokey Pokey – Teapot Tuesday Challenge #749

It’s Tickle a Teapotter time and Jean is our hostess this month! She has provided us with a Pinterest board of glass paper weights for inspiration. I chose this one because I thought I could get a similar look with my Ranger stencil.

I could have sponged and stamped some ink through the stencil, but I felt like playing with some gel printing. This fun sock puppet was on my to do list. I love the look of this stamp. And he needed a funny joke, so I found this one:

TCP 12 Days of Crafting Day 4

Hello and welcome to The Cat’s Pajamas 12 Days of Crafting!  It’s Day 4 and the theme is “Kid Friendly”.  Of course I would sign up for that one–I love crafting with my kids!  And each year we like to make ornaments, so that’s what we made this year.  First of all, my boys love to color, so they both picked out a Christmas digi to use.  The penguins were a big hit, so I also chose a penguin digi.  I cut them with my ScanNCut and we all colored them.  Then I laminated them to make sure they’d last through the years.

Then I used my ScanNCut to cut out some wreath forms.  To make the wreaths, we simply wrapped yarn around the circle to cover the paper.  I inked up the paper with green ink in case and of the paper showed through, then Raleigh decided he wanted to use red yarn.  He is very clever in finding ways to make his project different.

Come on over to the Cat’s Pajamas Blog and check out the rest of the 12 Days of Crafting.  There’s plenty of time to play along to win fabulous prizes!

We each decorated our wreaths with Nuvo drops or Stickles and I tied bows for each of the ornaments.

Now it’s time to hang them on our tree and enjoy the season!

Stampers Delights November Inspiration

Hello and welcome to my last Design Team post for Stampers Delights.  It’s been such a great experience and I’m thankful to Janice for giving me this fun opportunity.  For the month of November, we’re highlighting Christmas/Winter images on the Stampers Delights blog.  I’ve used the Kawaii Coco 4 Coco digital stamp for today’s card. What a fun image to warm up a cold winter day!

I felt like making her a fun mixed media background and here is my step by step process:

I started by pulling a piece of cardstock out of my background drawer that I had stamped with big bubble wrap.  Then I stamped big snowflakes all over it.  I drizzled some acrylic paint on top.  The pain has glitter in it, so it really sparkles.  After I took that last picture, I also rubbed a bit of blue Inka Gold in some spots to give it more depth and I finished off by applying Nuvo Mousse and Glitter Paste through a snowflake stencil.  I love all the shimmer, shine, and texture!

Cute Little Hedgehog – Watercolor Wednesday #130

It’s Watercolor Wednesday!  Today we’re following along with a video by Sanday Allnock.  I really enjoyed watching Sandy’s video. I could watch her make cards all day long.  She is just amazing.  I enjoyed making this card, but it took a scary turn this morning. Everything started out alright.  I decided to finally ink up this adorable hedgehog to go inside my glass ornament.  Watercoloring the ornament and background went pretty well. I did get some muddy color and my bokeh is a little wonky. Most of all my ornament is not perfectly round because she said that I should work fast so it would be wet enough to lift the color for the bokeh. So I rushed that background quite a bit. I was too lazy to watercolor the greenery at the top. Plus, I have this gorgeous Winter Bouquet stamp set that I won from Rubbernecker last year and it deserved some love today.  So I stamped all that greenery and then I added white enamel accents for berries. That’s when I almost died. The white berries ran together to form big old blobs.

ACK! What was I thinking?  I had to just walk away and let them dry in the hopes that I could peel them off and save my card. Tonight, I peeled off the white berries and punched and burnished some little red berries. Phew! A little too symmetrical for my taste, but I’m pretty happy with the result of this “cute little Christmas” card.

Won’t Get Fueled Again – Featured Stamper Challenge #824

I think this is hilarious and I hope my dad does too. It’s his 74th birthday today, and he did listen to The Who quite a bit when I was growing up.

Here is the full dad joke.  It uses “jungle” font that I had downloaded for free at fontbundles.net.  As always, if you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

It’s Sunday and that means it’s time for the Featured Stamper Challenge.  I knew I wanted to use this joke today, but I went to our Featured Stamper, joejaykandi’s gallery for inspiration. I liked this card, because I could use the humor element and the sheet music background for my card:

I printed the sentiment, then stamped this fun bus and drew on the flag design to really make it look like a Who tour bus. Then I stamped the sheet music background on some shimmery gray paper and added a bit of hand drawn border for a little added interest.

Feliz Gnavidad – TCP Gnovember Release

I hope you’re having a great Gnovember!  Have you had a chance to play with this month’s TCP release? The Cat Pack has created some fabulous cards with these gnomes and I wanted to take a turn with the Tree Cup Gnome Digital Stamp.  He comes with some fun sentiments.  My favorite is “Feliz Gnavidad”, so I printed that on his cup.  It’s rather understated, but still fun, don’t you think?  I cut him out and colored in festive colors.  Then I tried out the technique from this week’s Technique Lovers Challenge–Wet Paper Watercoloring.  I made two backgrounds, one in greens and one in blues and cut them up according to today’s sketch.  Christmas cards always need glitter, so I embossed the snowflakes with iridescent glitter embossing powder and then I added Stickles to the image.  After I took this photo, I realized he needed some more glitter, so I added more Stickles to his mittens.

The 2022 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is still in full swing and The Cat’s Pajamas is one of the amazing sponsors.

I like the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, because it reminds me that I should make cards for the coffee lovers in my life.  Personally, I’m a tea drinker, so it never occurs to me to make a coffee card.  I’m not so sure this is a coffee card, though.  I think he’s sitting in a hot cocoa cup, don’t you?

Stampers Delights November Spotlight

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, isn’t it? Feels like the day after Halloween all the Christmas started coming out of the woodwork.  That’s quite alright with me!   And for the month of November, we’re highlighting Christmas/Winter images on the Stampers Delights blog.  I’ve used the Chibi Xmas Decorations digital stamp for today’s card. Isn’t she so sweet?  She couldn’t possibly be on the naughty list!

I had so much fun coloring her up with my Copic Markers, and added some pizazz with Nuvo drops and Stickles.

Bliss – Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

It’s time for the 2022 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and The Cat’s Pajamas is one of the amazing sponsors.  Alma has a fabulous blog post up on The Cat’s Pajamas blog, and I wanted to join in and play along too!

I like the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, because it reminds me that I should make cards for the coffee lovers in my life.  Personally, I’m a tea drinker, so it never occurs to me to make a coffee card.  But who could resist this sweet Bliss Digital Stamp?  I know I can’t.  I kept it pretty simple with just a fun gelliprint/stenciled background to let that bunny shine.

Silent Gnight – Gnovember TCP Release

Happy Gnovember, Everyone!  Oh what fun I’m having with this month’s TCP release.  Alma shared several of the fun gnomes already, and I’m joining in the fun with this Gnome Christmas Trees Digital Stamp.  I made two cards to share today.  On this first one, I wanted to use some of the fun Christmas DSP that I have in my collection.  How much patterned paper do you have in your collection?  Sometimes I have to remind myself to use it.  And when I do remind myself to use it, I often look to old Sketch Challenges for layout ideas.  This one uses SC261.  For my second card I had an idea to play around with the digital stamp to make an icy reflection in front of the gnomes.

I’ve always been really bad at mirror image stamping with rubber or clear stamps, so I love how easy it was to reflect the gnomes on the icy ground with the digital stamps.  I also used today’s Ombre Ways to Use It Challenge to inspire my coloring of the gnomes’ hats and the sky.

And what would a Christmas card be without some glitter.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my cards and that you’ll have as much fun with this Gnovember release as I have.

Happy Tacos – Free for All Challenge #662

I never got a chance to upload my card from Friday!  This is a combination of both of Friday’s challenges.  The MIX Challenge was to use cardboard and the Free for All Challenge was Clean & Simple Foods.   OK, so the CAS element got away from me. Go ahead and judge me.  I based the card on a funny meme that I saw that said this:

The sentiment uses my very own font that I created on calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image above and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

I used this cute SSS dog and taco that Jacqueline had sent me, since she knows I love cute critters (especially in hats or clothes!). I added a bit of cardboard for the MIX challenge and called it done!
