Best Seller – Inspiration Challenge #830

It’s Saturday and time for another Inspiration Challenge. Today’s inspiration site was a little bit overwhelming for me, so I went back to the thumbnails in challenge post and found this lovely canvas:

I was happy for the inspiration to use one of my wildflower fields stamps. I had a different one in my head, but this one was easier to get to. I loved the bright colors against the black background in my inspiration photo. The good thing about using this Waffle Flower Tender Blooms stamp is that it also has individual flowers to stamp, fussy cut, and pop up on the card. It adds just the perfect extra interest along with some Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

My Mug Collection – Teapot Tuesday #692

It’s Teapot Tuesday!  And since it’s the last Tuesday of the month, that means we’re sending our cards to each other!  Sandy gave us a very fun challenge she calls “A Reflection of Your Collection.”  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone else’s collection in the gallery.  I always enjoy learning about my teapotter friends interests with challenges like this. My card is based on my mug collection. I have a mug from everywhere I’ve ever been and also mugs from places my friends have been. It all started in middle school and high school when my best friend, Bridget, and I would buy each other mugs each time we went anywhere on vacation. I have a whole cabinet dedicated to my mug collection. My favorite one is the one from South Dakota, although I also really love my Statue of Liberty mug. I knew I had a Mt. Rushmore sticker in my collection, so I dug through my stickers to find some to decorate my mugs. Turns out I only needed this one. It was a big sticker for the top of a scrapbook page that said “United States” and had the trees, Mt. Rushmore, The Gateway Arch (I also have a mug from there), and the Statue of Liberty. They needed a flag tablecloth to rest on (I have one of those too!). I had so much fun making this card.  Here is my mug collection.  You should be able to spot my South Dakota, Statue of Liberty, and St. Louis mugs:

Feline Spooky – Watercolor Wednesday Challenge #73

It’s Watercolor Wednesday and what a tough challenge we got today. It seemed like it was going to be wicked easy.  I thought I was going to have my card done in no time at all.  I watched the five minute video and quickly got to work.  I taped down my Fabriano Hot Press paper and painted my trees:

Oh dear.  I think I got a little carried away with the jigger-jagger-jigger-jagger on the left tree. But that’s OK.  It will look better once I dab on the leaves, right?  I started with copy paper, but that blobbed, so I switched to parchment paper.  It was better, but still not great.

I should just give up, right?  Toss out these ridiculous trees and call it day.  No way.  I’m not going to let the trees win.  I truly believe that you can fix anything with cute critters and puns.  It’s not such a bad tree after all.  It just a little love…and some trick or treaters.

I stamped these sweet Paperie Ink critters at a friend’s house and they were perfect for my scene.  I fussy cut them at the bus stop this morning.  Then I arranged them on the card and took a picture, so I could recreate it.

I thought that tree on the left was such a disaster, but it ended up being my favorite of the two cards.  Here is the other finished product:

The moral of the story is never give up and neve throw anything away.

I’m playing along with the following challenges today:

Holy Sheet! – Teapot Tuesday #690

It’s Teapot Tuesday.  I have the honor of hosting this week’s Tea Party for Ciara in Ohio who is recovering from a really bad car accident.  When I read Ciara’s story, it took me back to the night my father-in-law was in a similar accident.  They had many of the same injuries.  We didn’t think he was going to make it, but thanks to the miracle workers at Mass General Hospital and a lot of rehab and physical therapy, he did.  I pray that Ciara receives such excellent care on her road to recovery.  Ciara loves Halloween, so we are sending her some Halloween giggles in her favorite color combo – baby blue and black.

On this card, I’ve used stamps from Instagram giveaways from two of our SCS friends! The Picket Fence Studios ghost background stamp came from Angie (ohmypaper!) and the Ink Road ghosts came from Stef (smilynstef). I embossed the background ghosts on baby blue paper and popped up the main ghosts on action wobbles.

This is my favorite Halloween sentiment.  I found my original font that I thought I had lost when I switched computers.  I made this font on calligraphr.com. You should try it.  It’s so fun to make your own font!

If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Bad Ass – Clean and Simple Challenge #659

This week’s Clean and Simple Challenge is Polka Dots.  I chose to make my polka dots with Nuvo Glimmer Paste and a polka dot stencil. I think it makes a very fun background for This funny Unity stamp.

I’m also playing along in the AAA Cards Clean And Simple Challenges Game #200:

The theme is celebrate.  To make the donkey more festive, I masked him and stamped a party hat on him. I cut him out with my ScanNCut and grounded him with the MFT Grounding Elements die. And to really put it over the top, he needed googly eyes.

Bosses’ Day 2021 – Free for All Challenge #607

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for a Free for All Challenge. Angie is our hostess and she has challenged us to make fall cards.

You guys, Bosses’ Day is next week. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that. I wasn’t until my friend asked me to make her a card for her boss. Now I have to make one for mine, too. About ten years ago–before I learned to make my own cards, I bought a Bosses’ Day card that said “We looked up boss in the dictionary…it said quit fooling around and get back to work.” Since I have a different boss now, I can use that on this card. And I’ve been really good about keeping my computer generated sentiments as PNG files, so they’ll be easy to use again. That means you can use it too!

It’s made with Spring Market font.  I can’t remember where I got it.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Stampers Delights October Release – Anime Cheers

Today I’m sharing the Stampers Delights Anime Cheers Stamp.  You can find the entire October release here.  As always this digital image comes in jpeg and png formats AND, this is also available as a clear stamp!

I printed out the digital version and cut it out with my ScanNCut.  She was so fun to color up with my Copic markers.  I also printed her out on some green patterned paper, so I could paper piece her a fun top.  It was so easy to paper piece this image–I felt like a kid again playing with paper dolls. I wanted to make her multiple outfits to change into!  And it was a great way to use up a bit of my scraps of patterned paper.

Round Up – Teapot Tuesday #689

It’s Teapot Tuesday.  Today’s Tea Party is for Gracie’s 95 year old father-in-law who is isolated in his assisted living facility due to Covid restrictions. Rex loves the outdoors and used to have a farm, so I took the opportunity to use this farm/math joke that I found when I was looking for a different joke recently.

It’s made with Retro Board font.  I can’t remember where I got it.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

But I was so focused on the farm and the joke that I forgot about Polly’s SMILE challenge. Oops! Sorry, Polly!

Stampers Delights October Release – A Gift 4U Girl

October is here and it’s time for a new release at Stampers Delights!  Today I’m sharing the Stampers Delights Chibi October release.  You can find the entire October release here.  This card uses the Chibi – A Gift 4U Girl digital stamp.  As always this digital image comes in jpeg and png formats AND, this is also available as a clear stamp!

I printed out the digital version and cut it out with my ScanNCut.  She was so fun to color up with my Copic markers.  After I colored her dress red, I decided that her red dress would look really good with some Tiffany blue gift boxes.  I often like to go back into the old Sketch Challenges here at SCS for a little extra inspiration.  For this card, I used Sketch Challenge #242:

It’s a great sketch to use up my scraps of patterned paper, so I dug through my drawer of scraps and found some fun papers that coordinated well with my coloring.  She needed a little bit of extra sparkle and texture, so I added in some fun iridescent sequins.

I just love the way those sequins catch the light!

Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge – October

Are you a member of the Stampers Delights Delights Facebook Fan Group?  Have you seen the Progressive Challenge?  Join each month to receive the monthly image for free!  I just love this month’s sweet pumpkin!  Click below for details:

This week’s Watercolor Wednesday Challenge was watercoloring pumpkins.  So I printed out my digi for some no line watercoloring.  I used my Spectrum Aqua markers and a technique that we learned in last week’s Watercolor Wednesday Challenge.

I don’t know about you, but fall puts me in a plaid kind of mood and making my own plaid backgrounds is one of my favorite things to do. I grabbed a piece of MFT Natural cardstock and some fun fall colored Spectrum Noir markers and went to town.
