Wise Doctor – Free For All Challenge #647

Yesterday, for the Free for All Challenge, Jeanne challenged us to make blue cards. I had this guy on my to do list and thought he would look good in blue. Then I dug through my background drawer and found this background that had been made by stamping with big bubble wrap and water. I had seen this funny doctor joke somewhere and wanted to use it on a get well card. Once I had it printed out, I had the idea to ink up my embossing folder that looks like illegible script and stamp that onto the background. I love the way it came out.

If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image above and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

This wasn’t the only get well card that I made yesterday.  A friend asked me for a card for her friend that broke his leg.  I suggested this design and told her that I have a ton of old road maps.  She asked for Scranton, PA on the card.  I’m so excited about this map that I had.  It’s from 1973.

Covid Waterfall – Featured Stamper #790

It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for a new Featured Stamper.  Today’s Featured Stamper is Cindy H. who has such a fun gallery. I enjoyed browsing her gallery, but came back to this very recent card.

That dog in a cone was perfect for a card that a friend asked me to make. I got a text on Friday that said “Can you make me a card that says sorry you have Covid, and feel like sh–, and it’s your birthday, and you have a splint on your wrist.” I wanted all of that on the front of the card, but I couldn’t decide what to put on the inside until I saw Cindy’s card and remembered this fun stamp. So I finished with “one the bright side…you don’t need a cone.” It occurred to me as I was listing all the things that I had to put on the front of the card, that it was the perfect number of things for a waterfall card. I’ve made a couple of waterfall cards with my Lawn Fawn die recently. The die makes them so easy, and people just get so excited about these interactive cards.

This weekend was Virtual Stamp Night.  I was too busy to play in the VSN proper, but I’m happy to play some catch-up and enjoy all the fun challenges.  This is for Susan’s Text Challenge. I’m so glad it’s VSN, the one hour time limit makes me focus so much better. I set my timer for this card, which was pretty quick because of the die and because I just grabbed a pre-printed card base. The text background stamp was perfect for a bit more interest and a quick doodled border. 47 minutes.

All the Glitter! – Ways to Use It Challenge #836

What’s the challenge today?  Glitter!

Yes, please!  I recently bought some Glitter Ritz Microfine glitter.  It makes this fabulous smooth velvety glitter finish.  But I had to watch some Youtube videos first.  I don’t have the adhesive sheet that she used in the video.  I have Stick-It adhesive, which is the same idea, but different enough that I had a problem.  That problem is that the Stick-It has lines cut through the backing to make it easier to peel off.  However, as you can see in this photo, it leaves behind a break in the adhesive.

So I had to completely change my plan for this card.  I had originally planned to glitter up this design of this Picket Fence Studios die and kind of frame it and let it be the star of my card.  I pretty much always make two cards at a time, so I had one with the “Blush” color in the background and one with the “Sahara” color in the background.  But since I couldn’t solve the problem of that break in the adhesive, I only made one card today.  I die cut the best parts with my Waffle Flower nesting hearts dies.

So I stamped and fussy cut this adorable Art Impressions frog that I won in their December Challenge.  Now what?  More glitter! I wanted to frame the hearts and frog, and I had this leftover gold frame die cut close by.  I stamped the script in the background of the frame and embossed with iridescent embossing powder.  Needs more glitter.  So I die cut a Hello (from PTI) in glitter fun foam.  Needs….more glitter!  Stickles on the frog and flower.  And how about some Wink of Stella on the stem and leaf for good measure?  Look at that sparkle!

That itty bitty frog and that itty bitty microfine glitter needs to be entered into the Art Impressions Itty Bitty Challenge don’t you think?
