Happy Tacos – Free for All Challenge #662

I never got a chance to upload my card from Friday!  This is a combination of both of Friday’s challenges.  The MIX Challenge was to use cardboard and the Free for All Challenge was Clean & Simple Foods.   OK, so the CAS element got away from me. Go ahead and judge me.  I based the card on a funny meme that I saw that said this:

The sentiment uses my very own font that I created on calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image above and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

I used this cute SSS dog and taco that Jacqueline had sent me, since she knows I love cute critters (especially in hats or clothes!). I added a bit of cardboard for the MIX challenge and called it done!

Baseball Spinner – Virtual Stamp Night

I missed out on most of VSN because of Desmond’s baseball games. But you know what?  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  And with a lot of baseball games comes a lot of baseball friends. That’s why I like to have baseball birthday cards on hand for all the birthday parties. Combining baseball with a circle spinner card means this bunny is hitting foul ball after foul ball. I’ve seen some kids do that this year! LOL.

I made this card for my Virtual Stamp Night Challenge.  It was also inspired by my kids.  The theme of this VSN was Summer Festivals.  Don’t we all love summer festivals? But who loves summer festivals more than kids? One of the highlights of the year in our town is the Lakeside Festival held every Memorial Day Weekend. We brought our boys this year and they spent hours riding the rides with their friends. Rides that made me sick just looking at them. So. Much. Spinning.

Here is a video of Raleigh’s favorite ride.  Anybody wonder why I chose the Circle Spinner Card Tutorial for my challenge?

I’ve also combined my challenge with Chris’s CC900 (CC82) Color Challenge. Fun colors for a boy card and her dessert is “something that moves.” That ball sure does move. This is my first circle spinner card I’ve ever made and I’m shocked at how well it works. I usually screw up these interactive cards and they don’t move smoothly.

And what good is a baseball birthday card without a baseball joke? Here is the inside of my card:

Also, I know you love this bunny baseball player, right?  Here he is.  And he comes with a lot of fun sentiments.  Click below to visit the shop.

Making Waves – TCP May Release

I’m waving hello to May with this month’s TCP release.  I’ve had so much fun with the Make Waves SVGs. As soon as I saw the set, I couldn’t wait to cut out that cute seagull and have him bobbing on the waves.  And after I cut out the seagull and waves, I noticed I had a fabulous stencil left over:

Well, I was also excited to use the Fun in the Sun Digi and I went ahead and spread some Paper Glaze through my freshly cut stencil.  That fun wavy background was just right for this cool cat to float and enjoy her margarita.  I guess ocean scenes always get me thinking of portholes which put me in the mood for some round cards.  I decided to make this into a get well card with one of my favorite retired TCP sentiments.

For my gull card, instead of a porthole, I used the life preserver to frame the seagull.  I cut each piece with my Brother ScanNCut out of Neenah Solar White and sponged on all the colors with Distress Oxide, shading each piece a bit just by using the brush that I usually use for black or gray ink.  I popped up just the top of the bird and let the bottom of the bird rest more in the water.  And of course, I needed to add some glitter to the waves.

Frankly, I love to make seagull cards, because I can use one of my favorite birthday sentiments.  29 again?

Kid’s Meal – Clean and Simple Challenge #687

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Clean and Simple Challenge.  This week Lisa has challenged us to show the inside of our CAS cards. I found this to be a tough challenge, but I’m looking forward to seeing the insides of everyone’s cards. This retired FSJ burger has been on my to do list and I decided what better way to showcase the inside of my card than with a good punchline. I used my very own handwritten font for the sentiment.  Making your own font is so easy at calligraphr.com.   I highly recommend it.  I printed the sentiment on Fabriano Hot Press watercolor paper and stamped the burger above it.  Then I did a very quick watercolor with my Spectrum Aqua markers.

As always I’m sharing the sentiment here if you’d like to use it.  Just right click on the images below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Not My Cup of Tea – Clean and Simple Challenge #672

Lisa is hosting this week’s CAS challenge and she wants us to feature our favorite drinks. Tea has always been my favorite. I’ve been drinking it since I was a kid–several cups a day. So I went searching the internet for a fun tea joke and found this one.

This is made with my very own font that I designed using calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Tacos Fall Apart – Featured Stamper #779

Today’s Featured Stamper is leslielarkin. Leslie has such a wonderful gallery, I wanted to CASE all her fun cards. She uses DSP so well. I couldn’t decide between using Witty-Cisms by leslielarkin at Splitcoaststampers and Whale Done by leslielarkin at Splitcoaststampers so I combined the two.

You know I can’t resist a good pun, so they both spoke to me.  I started by stamping black and white tacos with little pink cheeks to make my own DP. Then I stamped and colored the focal taco. I chose to use some fun bright DP behind my black and white tacos in honor of Leslie’s fabulous work.  It took me a while to decide between “Let’s taco ’bout it” and “Let’s taco ’bout your birthday.”  In fact, I had the party hats all ready to go for this card.  But once I decided on this inside sentiment, “Let’s taco ’bout it” won out.

This is made with my very own font that I designed using calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Holy Sheet! – Teapot Tuesday #690

It’s Teapot Tuesday.  I have the honor of hosting this week’s Tea Party for Ciara in Ohio who is recovering from a really bad car accident.  When I read Ciara’s story, it took me back to the night my father-in-law was in a similar accident.  They had many of the same injuries.  We didn’t think he was going to make it, but thanks to the miracle workers at Mass General Hospital and a lot of rehab and physical therapy, he did.  I pray that Ciara receives such excellent care on her road to recovery.  Ciara loves Halloween, so we are sending her some Halloween giggles in her favorite color combo – baby blue and black.

On this card, I’ve used stamps from Instagram giveaways from two of our SCS friends! The Picket Fence Studios ghost background stamp came from Angie (ohmypaper!) and the Ink Road ghosts came from Stef (smilynstef). I embossed the background ghosts on baby blue paper and popped up the main ghosts on action wobbles.

This is my favorite Halloween sentiment.  I found my original font that I thought I had lost when I switched computers.  I made this font on calligraphr.com. You should try it.  It’s so fun to make your own font!
