Foil Rainbow – Inspiration Challenge #842

It’s Saturday and time for another Inspiration Challenge.  Here is my inspiration:

What took me so long to decide to try foiling? I don’t know, but I asked for a laminator for Christmas and now I’m hooked. I used decofoil transfer gel applied over this fun rainbow stencil by Erin Lee Creative and rainbow shattered glass deco foil.

It’s a little messy looking. My other attempts with smaller designs came out better. My question for everyone is–what do I do with the leftover from foiling this? The part that’s left on the plastic is way too pretty to throw away. I guess I need to take a trip down the YouTube.

I wish there were more hours in the day for me to foil all the things!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Recycled Anniversary Remake – Sketch Challenge #873

It’s Wednesday and time for another Sketch Challenge.  This was a nice simple one.  Perfect for remaking this anniversary card that I really liked.

This had been an anniversary card that my Gram had sent to my aunt and uncle.  I really loved the inside verse, so I die cut it and put it on the outside.  I die cut the rest of the card and arranged it on the outside too, and embellished with some glitter and metallic cardstock and an arrow paper clip.  For today’s card I recreated the sentiment using Papyrus font.  I know font snobs snub their nose at Papyrus, but I wanted a basic font and I think it actually worked well here.

If you’d like to use it on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

I’m playing along with the following challenges today:

Love You Deerly – Featured Stamper #749

This week’s Featured Stamper is ScrappyHappy. What a fun and lovely gallery! I browsed the entire gallery, but I came back to this gorgeous scene.

I was looking for inspiration for a Father’s Day card that a friend asked me to make and I thought a scene like this would make a nice masculine card. I loved the dreamy kind of glow that Laura’s card has with the darker edges, so I kept that look as I stenciled my scene using my new Mountain Scene Builder Stencil from Erin Lee Creative. I had to dig around in my scraps for a mask to sponge a white moon because I forgot I was going to mask a moon. I do like the very soft look of this moon.

I wanted a very woodsy feel because my friend does live very much near the Freetown State Forest and this sweet deer stamp really looks like the adorable little fawn that walked through my yard with her mom the other day. I also realized I had the perfect sentiment for this card. I decided I wanted to cut it with my ScanNCut, but I wanted to emboss it in white on black. So I first stamped the sentiment on white with black and scanned it to recognize and make the cut file. I cut it out of black and then embossed in white.  I also had to draw a border around the deer and teepee in order to cut them out with the ScanNCut.

The sentiment is popped up on foam squares and I finished with some stars in white gel pen. I’m very happy with this card and can’t wait for my friend to see it! Thanks for the inspiration, Laura!

Poppy Mail – Clean and Simple Challenge #639

For this week’s Clean and Simple Challenge I used my newest stamp set.  I was the lucky winner of an Instagram Giveaway from Erin Lee Creative.  A stamp shop that is new to me.  I just LOVE my new stamps!

I love poppies and I think these are gorgeous. I thought this stamp was perfect for the Diagonal challenge with the diagonal lines on the envelope.  I colored and die cut the flowers and arranged them diagonally on the card with some diagonal score lines.
