Baseball Spinner – Virtual Stamp Night

I missed out on most of VSN because of Desmond’s baseball games. But you know what?  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  And with a lot of baseball games comes a lot of baseball friends. That’s why I like to have baseball birthday cards on hand for all the birthday parties. Combining baseball with a circle spinner card means this bunny is hitting foul ball after foul ball. I’ve seen some kids do that this year! LOL.

I made this card for my Virtual Stamp Night Challenge.  It was also inspired by my kids.  The theme of this VSN was Summer Festivals.  Don’t we all love summer festivals? But who loves summer festivals more than kids? One of the highlights of the year in our town is the Lakeside Festival held every Memorial Day Weekend. We brought our boys this year and they spent hours riding the rides with their friends. Rides that made me sick just looking at them. So. Much. Spinning.

Here is a video of Raleigh’s favorite ride.  Anybody wonder why I chose the Circle Spinner Card Tutorial for my challenge?

I’ve also combined my challenge with Chris’s CC900 (CC82) Color Challenge. Fun colors for a boy card and her dessert is “something that moves.” That ball sure does move. This is my first circle spinner card I’ve ever made and I’m shocked at how well it works. I usually screw up these interactive cards and they don’t move smoothly.

And what good is a baseball birthday card without a baseball joke? Here is the inside of my card:

The sentiment uses my very own font that I created on calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image above and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Also, I know you love this bunny baseball player, right?  Here he is.  And he comes with a lot of fun sentiments.  Click below to visit the shop.

Best Things in Life – Featured Stamper Challenge #802

This week’s Featured Stamper is mschoener! Maggie is such a delight and I really enjoyed browsing her gallery. I landed on this card because I loved the sentiment.

I’ve also combined with Barbara’s CC900 (CC845) Color Challenge colors with metallic for dessert. The metallic convinced me to foil my sentiment–it doesn’t take much. I finally jumped on the foiling bandwagon and I’m really enjoying the ride. I created the sentiment on my computer, printed it out with my brand new Brother laser printer and foiled it in gold.

I don’t have that sentiment stamp, so I had to create it myself.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

This funny cat was on my to-do list. There is a fish bowl for him to be looking at, but I went with a cupcake to match the sentiment. I’ve colored this chunky cat to match my friend, Liz’s cat. It’s heading her way for her birthday. I realized after I took the picture that I forgot to add the Stickles sprinkles on the cupcake.

Satisfactory – Clean and Simple Challenge #695

It’s been a very very busy couple of weeks for me.  Two different baseball teams and the end of the school year have me so busy that I keep forgetting to post my cards.  I also didn’t have time to fully participate in the June VSN.  Here is my card for Brenda’s “Workers” VSN Challenge.  Father’s Day always puts me in the mood for dad jokes and I thought this was a good one for the worker theme. I used this Paper Smooches stamp to make factory and I arranged the clouds to look like smoke coming from the factory. Quick and easy!

If you’d like this dad joke as much as I do and you want to use it on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Mustache Mania – TCP May Release

I mustache for a moment of your time.  I’m still having fun with this month’s TCP release and getting ready for Father’s Day!  When I saw the Hipster Cutables SVGs, I got an idea in my head for a shaker card.   They remind me of those magnetic mustache toys where you use the magnet wand to move the iron shavings and change the guy’s hair, mustache, and/or beard.  I don’t have iron shavings, but ground coffee gave me the look I wanted!  I arranged the four mustaches in Canvas Workspace, and then framed them with the postage stamp from the Four Seasons Stamps Cutable SVGs.  I wanted the sentiment to say “Thanks, Dad” but I didn’t have that, so I made it with a “Thanks” from Wheel Love and spelled out “DAD” using Baby Doll Alphabet.

The inside sentiment was made using Tired Panda font which I had downloaded as a freebie from The Hungry JPEG.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Here’s the best part of this card–I had mustaches left over to make two more cards!  I took the four mustaches that I cut out of blue paper and colored them with a black Sharpie.  Then I popped them up with some fun sentiments.

I hope you grabbed the Black/White Spring Digi Papers, because those plaids and checks are perfect for masculine cards, aren’t they?

Nuts About TCP! – April Release

It’s the last day of April and we’re all getting excited for the TCP May release, but I am still nuts about this April release.  I can never resist some cute woodland creatures, so I just had to make a card with the Into the Woods Digi Stamps.  I love the skunk in this set, too, but I wanted to feature the squirrel and his acorns on this one.  And I wanted to feature a lot of acorns.  I love digital stamps because it was so much easy to make a pile of acorns for this card–no masking!  I felt the background needed a pattern, but not too bold a pattern and the Black & White Spring Digi Papers had just the right pattern.  I love the black and white digi paper because my printer doesn’t love color.  Frankly, though, I still love color–but you can print this black and white paper on any color cardstock.  It’s so versatile!

I was originally going to use the cute “Nuts! I forgot!” sentiment from this digital stamp set, but decided to shake things up with a different sentiment.

I was so thrilled with the look of the digital paper printed on the aqua cardstock, that I had to add some to the inside of my card too.  The color complements the color of the acorn so well.

I hope you like this silly card and if you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Kid’s Meal – Clean and Simple Challenge #687

Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Clean and Simple Challenge.  This week Lisa has challenged us to show the inside of our CAS cards. I found this to be a tough challenge, but I’m looking forward to seeing the insides of everyone’s cards. This retired FSJ burger has been on my to do list and I decided what better way to showcase the inside of my card than with a good punchline. I used my very own handwritten font for the sentiment.  Making your own font is so easy at calligraphr.com.   I highly recommend it.  I printed the sentiment on Fabriano Hot Press watercolor paper and stamped the burger above it.  Then I did a very quick watercolor with my Spectrum Aqua markers.

As always I’m sharing the sentiment here if you’d like to use it.  Just right click on the images below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Where the Heart Is – Free For All Challenge #635

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for a Free 4 All Challenge.  Jeanne has challenged us to make pink backgrounds today. I needed another card for my coworker who just bought a new condo, so I chose this sweet MFT background stamp for my pink background. I sponged Spun Sugar all over the white cardstock and then stenciled hearts to match my sentiment. I computer generated the sentiment because somehow I do not have a stamp that says “Home is where the heart is.” And I always finish off that sentiment with “even if you can’t remember which box you packed it in.”  I think it is so appropriate for someone who just moved to a new place.

As always I’m sharing the sentiment here if you’d like to use it.  Just right click on the images below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

I Like the Way You Roll – The Cat’s Pajamas April Release

Hey there! It’s April and I’m rolling in with some cards I’ve made with the fun designs from The Cat’s Pajamas latest release.  I had some ideas for using the Wheel Love digi stamp and the Summer Borders SVGs.  I kept it clean and simple with this first card where I used the SVG files to cut a stencil and sponge a scene.  First I printed the digi, masked it and sponged the road, bushes, and clouds behind him.  I colored him with Copics and to keep it a one layer card, but add a bit of interest to the edges, I doodled a border.  The sentiment comes from a retired clear stamp set.

This fun bunny riding down the road had me thinking of a meme that I had seen recently.  Do you ever see a funny meme online and decide that you have to make it into a card?  I do it all the time.  My next card uses the SVGs to cut the shapes to build my scene.  I also used my Brother ScanNCut to cut the bunny.

I printed the first part of my sentiment on the blue sky paper and layered on the green grass and bushes and the gray road.  After I colored the bunny with Copics and popped him up on the scene, I realized that I couldn’t leave the middle of the bicycle wheels white.  So I found just the right color markers to match the grass and the road.  The paper that I used for the road had a shimmer to it, so I added Wink of Stella to the road behind the bicycle wheels.  Then I drew in some lines with white gel pen to give the illusion of movement.  So what’s the punchline?

Do you love it as much as I do?  You know how much I love a good pun.

Seas the Day – Clean and Simple Challenge #685

I am hosting this week’s Clean and Simple Challenge and we’re commemorating the 110th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic with boats or nautical cards.  I had this cute Cat Ships Captain digi from Craftin Desert Divas waiting on my to do list.  Craftin Desert Divas closed in 2019 and I bought a ton of stamps and digis.  Two and a half years later, I’m still trying to get around to using them all.  To keep this card CAS, I just printed the digi kind of small and masked it to sponge a bit of Broken China sky behind him.

The sentiment is created using Amastery Hand font duo that I downloaded from fontbundles.net.  Sometimes I get a little stumped as to how to finish off my CAS cards.  I didn’t want it to just be a one layer card, but should I matte it on colored paper on a white card base?  Just die cut and put on a colored card base?  I can never decided.  That’s when the store bought printed card bases the I’ve picked up from The Christmas Tree Shop come in handy.  I found two card bases that I liked with the cat image.  I was pretty excited about the star background for my card inspired by The Titanic which was operated by the White Star Line.  But I really like the way the gingham looks.  The color coordinates so well with the cat, don’t you think?  Which one do you like better?

As always, I’m happy to share my computer generated sentiment.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Wants and Needs – Clean and Simple Challenge #673

I’m hosting this week’s CAS Challenge and we’re starting off the new year with some healthy habits–well we’re trying at least. These fun Waffle Flower hippos have their exercise routine down, but they can’t seem to lay off the junk food.

I created this sentiment with the Tired Panda font duo (Caps and Script) that I downloaded from The Hungry JPEG.
