Keeping Warm – Inspiration Challenge #843

Today’s Inspiration Challenge was fun. Everything was crocheted! It inspired me to make some granny squares for my cards today. Here is the pillow I liked

I know even people who can’t crochet can make a granny square, but I always forget. So I went to YouTube for the directions.  Here is the video I watched.  I had so much fun crocheting the granny squares, it made me want to make a whole blanket!

Foil Rainbow – Inspiration Challenge #842

It’s Saturday and time for another Inspiration Challenge.  Here is my inspiration:

What took me so long to decide to try foiling? I don’t know, but I asked for a laminator for Christmas and now I’m hooked. I used decofoil transfer gel applied over this fun rainbow stencil by Erin Lee Creative and rainbow shattered glass deco foil.

It’s a little messy looking. My other attempts with smaller designs came out better. My question for everyone is–what do I do with the leftover from foiling this? The part that’s left on the plastic is way too pretty to throw away. I guess I need to take a trip down the YouTube.

I wish there were more hours in the day for me to foil all the things!

Best Seller – Inspiration Challenge #830

It’s Saturday and time for another Inspiration Challenge. Today’s inspiration site was a little bit overwhelming for me, so I went back to the thumbnails in challenge post and found this lovely canvas:

I was happy for the inspiration to use one of my wildflower fields stamps. I had a different one in my head, but this one was easier to get to. I loved the bright colors against the black background in my inspiration photo. The good thing about using this Waffle Flower Tender Blooms stamp is that it also has individual flowers to stamp, fussy cut, and pop up on the card. It adds just the perfect extra interest along with some Stickles.

Woof Means Happy Birthday – Inspiration Challenge #824

It’s Saturday and that means it’s time for the Inspiration Challenge.  As usual, I shopped the sale section of the Inspiration site. I found this skirt that inspired me to use horizontal stripes of DP.

I was going to look for paper that was the same pattern but three different colors until I remembered that I still have some cards left over from Kendra’s Card Challenge and this one was perfect. I need to use them up so I can make my next batch. I love having these card bases all ready to go–just add critters. Here is a cute dog that I just bought recently from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  As always, I made two cards, so I used two of the card bases I had.

We only have until the end of September to enter Kendra’s Card Challenge #3, so we better get going.  Speaking of challenges, I’m also entering:

Glow in the Dark Stars – Inspiration Challenge #814

Saturday means Inspiration Challenge.  I found this picture that I had the perfect stamp for!

The only thing I really had to think about was how to do the sky. I decided I wanted it to glow in the dark. You can pretty much sell me anything if it glows in the dark, so I had to have this Lawn Fawn EP. Unfortunately, I don’t have success with it as embossing powder. I decided today to just treat it like glitter. I’m happy to report that it worked quite well and glows beautifully.

The background is made with Elizabeth Craft Designs double sided adhesive tape on a piece of cardstock. It allowed both the glow in the dark embossing powder  and the Glitter Ritz microfine glitter to perfectly stick.

The fox is colored with E18, E08, E99, E21, and E51.  The bird is B05 and B24.  The grass is YG13, YG25, and YG17.

It doesn’t get much better than this.  Sparkly, glittery fabulousness in the light and glow in the dark.

This will be my last post for at least a week.  We’re going to take a week long family vacation down the Cape.  I’m excited, but I sure will miss my craft room!

This fits into these challenges:

Many Mermaids – Inspiration Challenge #812

I had fun with my boys making mermaid cards for this week’s Inspiration Challenge.  I wanted to combine the challenge with Nichole’s mermaid VSN challenge. Desmond chose this surf board for our inspiration.

The mosaic design made me think of the splotchy look of a wrinkle free distress background. So we got to work making a light blue and a dark blue. I liked Desmond’s background better than mine.

For my card, I die cut an oval frame as an approximation to the surfboard shape and popped my mermaid up in front. Raleigh left his background plain with solid blue cardstock and some glittery accents.

I love it when my boys craft with me.

Whale Hello – Inspiration Challenge #808

Saturday means it’s Inspiration Challenge Day.  Kelly is our hostess and she found us some great photos to inspire us.  This whale reminded me of one of my most recent purchases waiting to be inked up.

I bought A Dose of Vitamin Sea in my last purchase from Picket Fence Studios.  Ooh, it’s on sale right now!  Come to think of it–everything is on sale right now at Picket Fence Studios, so I need to go buy some more Paper Glaze.  I love this stuff.  I envisioned my whale in a deep blue ocean with fish swimming all around. A perfect excuse to use my Current of Fish Stencil with my PFS Paper Glaze. I used blue and green kind of mixed together for it. The background started with a swirly kind of marbly dark blue DP and I stamped SU Bamboo II to add some more depth and interest behind the fish. And because the site is Picture Frames, I added a frame.

Balloons and Glitter – Inspiration Challenge #805

Saturday is the Inspiration Challenge and what a fascinating Pinterest board Kia gave us for inspiration today. This photo reminded me that I had this sweet digi waiting on my to do list. It was a freebie from Digi Doodle Studios for the Kit and Clowder Facebook Group. I noticed that the Digi Doodle Challenge is to add glitter and couldn’t resist that. I also couldn’t color up a plain dress after looking at that inspiration site, so I put colorful spots all over her dress to imitate the balloon dress.

Skin: E95, E21, E00, R20 | Hair: Y21, E43, E44, E47

I wanted her to look hip and I’ve noticed a lot of people wearing blue reflective sunglasses this year. They were fun to do. Added some Stickles to them for good measure. Look at the sparkle!

Confidence – Try This Sentiment – Inspiration Challenge #801

Today is Inspiration Challenge day.  Kia gave us Burnett’s Boards to browse for inspiration today.   Sure was overwhelming. There was so much great stuff to look at.  I ultimately was drawn to the hand-lettering board and found this:

It’s been awhile since I did any hand-lettering, so I thought today was a good day for it. I was a little shaky and out of practice, but I’m happy with the result.  I took a photo of the sentiment before I finished the card and scanned it to create a PNG file that I can use on other cards.  I did a little bit of editing and used LunaPic photo editor to get a transparent background. You can save it to your own computer and use it yourself if you like it:

Isn’t this Kraftin Kimmie image so fun? She makes me miss going to the gym so much.  I cut her out with my ScanNCut and colored with Copics (Skin: E11, E00, E000 / Hair: E23, E25, E29 / Clothes: C10, C5, T4, T2) and Spectrum Noirs (Clothes: CR6, CR4 / Floor: TN4)

The current Kraftin Kimmie Challenge #576 is to Use a Circle.  So I sponged a little circle spotlight behind my fun gal.  I colored the floor with a marker and swiped Distress Inks across it for a wood look.  Kept it pretty clean and simple today.

Bunny in the City – Inspiration Challenge #800

Today is the Inspiration Challenge.  Julie brought us to Design Stack to browse for card inspiration.  I was inspired by this post to use my newest addition to my MFT collection – the City Block Background.

I stamped in  Versafine Clair Morning Mist and embossed with clear EP. Then I sponged Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberry, and Spun Sugar based on the MFT Color Challenge #163.

I thought it would be a good idea to splatter some water on it, but it wasn’t. Oh well. It’s fine. It needed a critter and I guess I have bunnies on the brain since Easter is coming tomorrow, and I turned and spotted the MFT Sunny Vibes stamp set hanging nearby.
