Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge – December

Are you a member of the Stampers Delights Delights Facebook Fan Group?  Have you seen the Progressive Challenge?  Join each month to receive the monthly image for free!  This month is Anime Holiday Cheer.  She makes a very fun Christmas card, but we also have to remind ourselves next Thanksgiving to bring her out for Thanksgiving cards!  Click below for details:

I love to work with digital stamps, because you can resize them however you like.  They’re so versatile.  One day I might want to use the whole image, but sometimes I like to really zoom in and use part of it.

I wanted that turkey to take center stage.  It needed some stenciling to make it shine, so I got out my sunburst stencil and inked on some rays.

But I realized that wasn’t really the look I was going for.  I wanted the turkey itself to glow.  So I had to cut out my image and put it on a new piece of paper.  Then I stenciled the light emanating from the turkey.  I also coated the turkey in Nuvo Crystal Glaze to make it really mouthwatering.  Are your fat pants ready for Christmas?

Stampers Delights October Release – Anime Cheers

Today I’m sharing the Stampers Delights Anime Cheers Stamp.  You can find the entire October release here.  As always this digital image comes in jpeg and png formats AND, this is also available as a clear stamp!

I printed out the digital version and cut it out with my ScanNCut.  She was so fun to color up with my Copic markers.  I also printed her out on some green patterned paper, so I could paper piece her a fun top.  It was so easy to paper piece this image–I felt like a kid again playing with paper dolls. I wanted to make her multiple outfits to change into!  And it was a great way to use up a bit of my scraps of patterned paper.

Cute As a Bug – Kawaii July Release

It’s my second month with the  Stampers Delights  Design Team as a Guest Designer!  And I have even more cuteness to share.  You can find the July release here.  This card uses the Kawaii Cute As a Bug digital stamp.  As always this digital image comes in jpeg and png formats but, hey, this little cutie is also available as a clear stamp!

I decided I really wanted to paper piece this scene, so I printed out four copies.  I grabbed some simple patterned paper in red, yellow, and green.  The green for her head and dress felt like it needed something else, so I put a piece of packing tape over it to give it some shine.  I did the same thing with her watering can.

Her skin is colored with Copic E11, E02, and E00 and her hair is colored with C5, BV08, and C9.  I used a stitched rectangle die and used a postal stamp lightly in the corner to give this a postcard feel.  Then of course I needed to add glitter and glossy accents.  Look at the shimmer and shine!

Paper Pieced Scene – Ways to Use It Challenge #844

Thursdays mean Ways to Use It Challenge.  Cathy’s challenge today is to “Take the Scenic Route.”  You know how much I love to make a scene. I had just the right stamps that I just got with some of my Waffle Flower winnings from a recent Weekly Challenge.  This sweet Summer Time stamp set. I decided today’s scene would be made on a postage stamp and combined with the Waffle Flower Weekly Challenge which is Paper Piecing.

I really took that paper piecing challenge and ran with it. Took out my drawer of small scraps of paper and picked out good pieces for each image.  I really like the sky.  It’s actually cut from a get well card that a friend sent me last year when I had my gallbladder removed.  Never throw anything away.

This was really fun, if a bit fiddly and time-consuming, to make.  So much fussy cutting.  And glue.  And just a bit of Stickles in the flower center to make it sparkle.  Make sure you check out the Waffle Flower Weekly Challenges!  They’re really fun and all the entries have been pretty fabulous.

Linda’s Cup of Tea – Teapot Tuesday #667

It’s Teapot Tuesday and today’s Tea Party is for Linda (Hotwheels). We’re sending some kind words and encouragement as we mark the second anniversary of her dear mother’s passing. Polly is our hostess and she has challenged us to make our cards with something that reminds us of our own mother. When I read that Linda and her mother liked tea, I knew I had to make a tea party card. I get my tea drinking habit from my mom. When I was growing up, she always had a cup of tea on the table while she sewed, and now so do I. Well, except I’m making cards instead of sewing. I wish I had picked up the sewing skills too.

This ended up being a combination of last week’s MIX Challenge to paper piece with mixed media backgrounds, because I was looking at these sweet Bo Bunny teacups and thinking they would look good paper-pieced. I had small strips of paper that I had used to soak up the watercolor from yesterday’s Technique Lovers Challenge.

I love the Fabriano Hot Press paper.  The pad that I have right now is 11 x 14.  I’m able to cut six card fronts out of each piece, and I’m left with two strips of 5.5 x 1.25.  I always soak up the remaining ink of my workspace with a scrap of paper and yesterday I decided that I should use those strips.  Lo and behold, those strips that I used to soak up the bird color made beautiful teacups.  To make it a truly mixed media card, I added gold Wink of Stella to the rims of the teacups, colored the flowers with metallic markers and added Stickles to the petals and flower centers.  Love that sparkle.

I’m also linking to this week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which is looking for Feminine cards.
