I was in the mood for glitter when I sat down to make my card.  OK, I know, when am I not in the mood for glitter?  But I REALLY felt like using glitter.  So I got out my micro glitter and made a fun ocean background for this guy.  I find these glitter backgrounds to be so fun to make.  It’s all about the order of your masks.  First I cut a seaweed shaped mask and put that down, then I added a circle stencil and applied the darker blue glitter.  After I took off the circle stencil, I added the lighter blue glitter.  Here’s a photo from just before I took off the seaweed mask on the second card:

It’s like magic.  After I made my background, I started thinking about what color I wanted for my seahorse.  I almost didn’t color him at all, but decided an orange seahorse would really pop.  If you know me, you know I have a thing for googly eyes. I think they make everything better.  So I got my googly eyes out and started playing.  Often, when I can’t decide which size I want, I take pictures of each option, so I can see them together.

It was a tough choice and I don’t think there was a wrong answer here, but what do you think? Do you think I made the right decision?  Speaking of decisions.  My next decision also required a side by side comparison.  How to arrange the sentiment:

But, you know what?  I realized that I was making two cards and I could use both arrangements of the sentiment.  I do prefer the one on the right, though.

Here’s a close-up of all that sparkle:

OOOH! I love it!  Can’t wait to see what you do with this fun image. Make sure you join in–you’ve got all month!

Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge – April

It’s April 1st, and it’s time for another Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge–no foolin’.  Head on over to the Stampers Delights Delights Facebook Fan Group and check it out!  Join each month to receive the monthly image for free!  This month is a Cactus Sample with an incredibly fun pun!  Click below for details:

I love a good pun and as much as I wanted to use it on my card, it will have to wait until next time.  I needed a different kind of encouraging card, so I used a cactus sentiment that I already had in my stash. Because my sentiment talks about stars, I went for a starry night sky.  The last time I used my blue glittery acrylic paint, I cleaned off my brayer on a piece of cardstock.  So I started with that as a base.  I sponged Distress Oxides all over it and then did some Wrinkle Free Distress Technique to add some more color and more texture.  I splattered some white paint, but wasn’t happy with those stars, so I added some more stars using white Enamel Accents.  But it still needed some more sparkle, so I added more stars with Stickles.  Here’s a close up shot of the sparkle:

Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge – December

Are you a member of the Stampers Delights Delights Facebook Fan Group?  Have you seen the Progressive Challenge?  Join each month to receive the monthly image for free!  This month is Anime Holiday Cheer.  She makes a very fun Christmas card, but we also have to remind ourselves next Thanksgiving to bring her out for Thanksgiving cards!  Click below for details:

I love to work with digital stamps, because you can resize them however you like.  They’re so versatile.  One day I might want to use the whole image, but sometimes I like to really zoom in and use part of it.

I wanted that turkey to take center stage.  It needed some stenciling to make it shine, so I got out my sunburst stencil and inked on some rays.

But I realized that wasn’t really the look I was going for.  I wanted the turkey itself to glow.  So I had to cut out my image and put it on a new piece of paper.  Then I stenciled the light emanating from the turkey.  I also coated the turkey in Nuvo Crystal Glaze to make it really mouthwatering.  Are your fat pants ready for Christmas?
