Holy Sheet! – Teapot Tuesday #690

It’s Teapot Tuesday.  I have the honor of hosting this week’s Tea Party for Ciara in Ohio who is recovering from a really bad car accident.  When I read Ciara’s story, it took me back to the night my father-in-law was in a similar accident.  They had many of the same injuries.  We didn’t think he was going to make it, but thanks to the miracle workers at Mass General Hospital and a lot of rehab and physical therapy, he did.  I pray that Ciara receives such excellent care on her road to recovery.  Ciara loves Halloween, so we are sending her some Halloween giggles in her favorite color combo – baby blue and black.

On this card, I’ve used stamps from Instagram giveaways from two of our SCS friends! The Picket Fence Studios ghost background stamp came from Angie (ohmypaper!) and the Ink Road ghosts came from Stef (smilynstef). I embossed the background ghosts on baby blue paper and popped up the main ghosts on action wobbles.

This is my favorite Halloween sentiment.  I found my original font that I thought I had lost when I switched computers.  I made this font on calligraphr.com. You should try it.  It’s so fun to make your own font!

If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Baby, Yoda Best! – Ways to Use It Challenge #842

Today’s Ways to Use It Challenge is to use washi tape.  Actually, I think the challenge may have just been to use tape, but that translates in my head to “use up some of that washi tape you’ve been collecting”.  I needed a card for my godson’s birthday, and, well, you’re never too old for Baby Yoda, am I right?  I bought this “Baby On Board” set from The Ink Road Stamps purely because I wanted to put hats on his head.  The party hat is from a Fiskars birthday set.  I printed the sentiment and stamped on Fabriano Hot Press paper, so I could watercolor him with my Spectrum Aqua markers:

So quick and easy.  I said that I bought this stamp set to put hats on Baby Yoda, and while that is true, I also couldn’t quite resist this image that I put on the inside of the card.  The sentiment is one of my favorites from the Power Poppy “Short Stacks” stamp set.

For the background, I dug through my little drawer of washi tape and picked out the most silver, metallic, space-age tapes that I have. I thought it would look the best randomly taped over a galaxy-type background. For this galaxy background, I grabbed a piece of blue cardstock and randomly sponged a few different blue and black Distress Oxide inks all over it. Then I smeared some black Stickles around the paper and finished with a splatter of white acrylic paint.

I’m entering this card into two “Anything Goes” challenges today:

Thanks, Stef! – Color Challenge #841

I made these cards for this week’s Color Challenge. Mary gave us some lovely colors this week that were just perfect to play with my new turnabout stamps.

I matched these Stampin Up colors the best I could with Distress Oxides and Spectrum Noir/Copic Markers. I substituted Peacock Feathers and SN BT5/AB3 for Just Jade, Mustard Seed and Y08/Y15 for Bumble Bee, and Worn Lipstick and SN PP3/PP4 for Rococo Rose.

I’ve been wanting to try these Concord & 9th Turnabout Stamps for some time now and finally got some thanks to smilynstef. She ran a giveaway on her Instagram and I won. What a fantastic box of goodies I received!

These sweet hedgehogs by The Ink Road Stamps were also in there.  I also can’t wait to try out those color layering hummingbirds.  But in the meantime, I am obsessed with the Turnabouts:

In addition to all those fabulous stamps, I also received some really great paper pads:

Lots of fun bright colors–right up my alley.  And she included quite a few different fun embellishments:

Wow!  Stef’s crafty goodies found a good home here and will be properly loved.
