Baseball Spinner – Virtual Stamp Night

I missed out on most of VSN because of Desmond’s baseball games. But you know what?  I wouldn’t have it any other way.  And with a lot of baseball games comes a lot of baseball friends. That’s why I like to have baseball birthday cards on hand for all the birthday parties. Combining baseball with a circle spinner card means this bunny is hitting foul ball after foul ball. I’ve seen some kids do that this year! LOL.

I made this card for my Virtual Stamp Night Challenge.  It was also inspired by my kids.  The theme of this VSN was Summer Festivals.  Don’t we all love summer festivals? But who loves summer festivals more than kids? One of the highlights of the year in our town is the Lakeside Festival held every Memorial Day Weekend. We brought our boys this year and they spent hours riding the rides with their friends. Rides that made me sick just looking at them. So. Much. Spinning.

Here is a video of Raleigh’s favorite ride.  Anybody wonder why I chose the Circle Spinner Card Tutorial for my challenge?

I’ve also combined my challenge with Chris’s CC900 (CC82) Color Challenge. Fun colors for a boy card and her dessert is “something that moves.” That ball sure does move. This is my first circle spinner card I’ve ever made and I’m shocked at how well it works. I usually screw up these interactive cards and they don’t move smoothly.

And what good is a baseball birthday card without a baseball joke? Here is the inside of my card:

The sentiment uses my very own font that I created on calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image above and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Also, I know you love this bunny baseball player, right?  Here he is.  And he comes with a lot of fun sentiments.  Click below to visit the shop.

Satisfactory – Clean and Simple Challenge #695

It’s been a very very busy couple of weeks for me.  Two different baseball teams and the end of the school year have me so busy that I keep forgetting to post my cards.  I also didn’t have time to fully participate in the June VSN.  Here is my card for Brenda’s “Workers” VSN Challenge.  Father’s Day always puts me in the mood for dad jokes and I thought this was a good one for the worker theme. I used this Paper Smooches stamp to make factory and I arranged the clouds to look like smoke coming from the factory. Quick and easy!

If you’d like this dad joke as much as I do and you want to use it on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Covid Waterfall – Featured Stamper #790

It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for a new Featured Stamper.  Today’s Featured Stamper is Cindy H. who has such a fun gallery. I enjoyed browsing her gallery, but came back to this very recent card.

That dog in a cone was perfect for a card that a friend asked me to make. I got a text on Friday that said “Can you make me a card that says sorry you have Covid, and feel like sh–, and it’s your birthday, and you have a splint on your wrist.” I wanted all of that on the front of the card, but I couldn’t decide what to put on the inside until I saw Cindy’s card and remembered this fun stamp. So I finished with “one the bright side…you don’t need a cone.” It occurred to me as I was listing all the things that I had to put on the front of the card, that it was the perfect number of things for a waterfall card. I’ve made a couple of waterfall cards with my Lawn Fawn die recently. The die makes them so easy, and people just get so excited about these interactive cards.

This weekend was Virtual Stamp Night.  I was too busy to play in the VSN proper, but I’m happy to play some catch-up and enjoy all the fun challenges.  This is for Susan’s Text Challenge. I’m so glad it’s VSN, the one hour time limit makes me focus so much better. I set my timer for this card, which was pretty quick because of the die and because I just grabbed a pre-printed card base. The text background stamp was perfect for a bit more interest and a quick doodled border. 47 minutes.

Calendar Easel Cards for Teachers

This is the second Christmas that I’ve made Calendar Easel cards for teachers for Christmas.  They are so fun and easy to make, and I hope that the teachers enjoy them.  This year I made ten of them starting with this one for MIX463:

I actually made two different ones of this design.  This one will go to the music teacher.  The other one has a sun drawn on the paper and “You color my world” as the sentiment.  It will go to the art teacher.

Next, I made this one for IC836.  This one will go to the library teacher:

Next, I designed one with Desmond’s teacher in mind.  He told me he wanted flowers on hers.  I thought this fox delivering flowers would be perfect.  I made this one for DEC21VSNI

I love that City Blocks Background embossed in white.  Raleigh’s teacher loves camping, so I made this camping card for her:

This last design will go to our school secretary who takes such good care of us.  I made this one today using today’s Sketch Challenge.

I’m so excited to send my boys to school tomorrow with all these fun calendars to hand out!

Stampers Delights December Sale! – Chibi Snowball Fight

For the Stampers Delights December sale event, I’m sharing my card using the Chibi Snowball Fight digital stamp.  Click here to shop the sale!  This digital image comes in jpeg and png formats, click below to buy it from the shop.

Again, I used a VSN Mini Challenge to inspire my design.  The December Virtual Stamp Night kicked off last week with three Mini challenges.  In Mini Challenge #2, Misti gave us a TV Guide themed color challenge to use red, white, and one other color on our cards.  I chose blue for the sky and my chibi’s sparkling eyes.  I cut him and some snow and snowballs with my ScanNCut.  Kept his warm clothes red and black to fit the color challenge.  This nice icy paper that I used behind him is actually “Frozen” themed.  It was a 12 x 12 piece of paper that I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby.  It has Elsa and Anna in the corner, but I cut them off and just used the cool icy part.  I added glossy accents to his eye and Stickles to the snow along with some falling Stickles snow behind him.  I love that extra bit of sparkle and shine.

Virtual Stamp Night! – JUN21VSNC – Narnia

It’s Virtual Stamp Night!  And time for my VSN Challenge.  The theme for this VSN is Fantasy Worlds and I’m looking for cards that represent my favorite Fantasy World – Narnia. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was always my favorite book in the series. I told myself I was going to choose a different book, because I’ve already made a Dawn Treader inspired card for a Teapot Tuesday challenge years ago (that card was just nautical). Alas, I couldn’t talk myself out of the Dawn Treader, so here is The Dawn Treader as a pirate ship. It’s a card for a coworker that just had a baby boy. I thought this “Adventure Awaits” sentiment was perfect for what they have in store for them. Lots of exciting adventures.
I didn’t want my ship to be a pirate ship, but I was too lazy to change the Jolly Roger flag. I also wanted a mouse on the ship and now that I look at it I realize I could have added a mouse (duh), but it’s fine. Reepicheep the mouse was my favorite character in the book. I die cut glittery water and glitter islands. In this scene The Dawn Treader is sailing away from The Lone Islands into uncharted territory. Adventure awaits!

I made two of these cards at the same time, as I usually do. Set my stopwatch for the one hour time limit and finished them with about 25 seconds to spare. You should have seen me fumbling with the paper of the action wobbles trying to get the ship stuck down in time. LOL!

Come on and play along! Don’t worry if you’ve never read the Chronicles of Narnia–there’s plenty of inspiration in just the titles of the books!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Virtual Stamp Night!

This past weekend was Virtual Stamp Night! One of my favorite weekends of the year.  The theme was Parks & Recreation which resulted in a lot of fun cards.  I spent two hours each night on Zoom meetings with my dear SCS friends.  Chatting with them always puts me in a good mood!

There was Lisa’s Zoo Animals challenge:

My dad has a T-shirt that says “Every zoo is a petting zoo if you’re brave enough.” I chuckle every time I see him wearing it.  I also chuckle every time I put it on a card.

Then there was Sonja’s Marble Technique challenge:

I got out my Wow! embossing powders and tried the Embossed Marble Background tutorial.

Kelly challenged us to “Trail off the Page”:

And Rebekah’s Swing Challenge:

The swings were always my favorite thing at the playground.

Rita wanted to see flower silhouettes on our cards:

Misti’s challenge was to use some form of transportation on our cards:

I’ve never gone out on a canoe at the park, but we do take our boat out from the boat ramp at the park regularly in the summer.  The trick is–you have to time the tide or you’ll get stranded.  I just love this Avery Elle Camp Wanna-Stamp stamp set!

Melody’s challenge had to do with slides:

Why did they cross the playground? To get to the other slide!  My kids cross the playground often to get to the other slide.

Lee gave us a fun sketch:

This card focused more on the “recreation” part of Parks & Recreation.

And I hosted a “Sports at the Park” challenge:

That’s what my kids said is the most fun thing to do at the park.  Play sports.  Just this month, they have played both baseball and basketball with friends at the park.  This little bear is playing baseball at the park.  But I think he has a black eye.  “I wondered why the ball was getting bigger…then it hit me.”

And I still have six more VSN Challenges to finish.  Stay tuned!
