Stampers Delights August Spotlight – Week 2

The sale continues at Stampers Delights, and today I am showcasing the adorable Chibi – It’s a Girl digital stamp.  OMG.  I can’t stand the cuteness!

I printed her out, cut her with my ScanNCut and colored with my Copic markers.  Then I went digging through my scrap drawer for coordinating pink scraps for the background.  If I weren’t using pink scraps, I would have colored the box pink, but instead I chose to give her a Tiffany style box.

This week’s Sketch Challenge helped me use up those pink scraps and make a fun background.

It was a quick and easy card and just needed a little bit of bling to finish it off. I went looking for something with a more diamond look, but couldn’t resist these fabulous rhinestones that I had in my stash.  They pull out the color of the box so well.

Let It Snow, Man – TCP August Release

We’re sticking with the Christmas/Winter theme in the August TCP release.  And this release includes one of my favorite sets ever!  Let the Flakes Fly.

For this card I also used the Home for the Holidays digi stamps to set the scene for these jammin’ snowmen.  I used my Brother laser printer to print a repeated row of houses and music notes to foil them.  Yes, I still think the foiling process is magic and I will never get tired of it.  I colored and cut the snowmen and set them down on some snow that I embossed with sheet music to keep the theme going.  Honestly, I never would have embossed the snow, but Polly’s Ways to Use It Challenge this week was Double Embossing.  Although she specifically said don’t heat emboss our embossing folder results.  I’m a rebel and I heat embossed the sheet music with glitter EP.  But also a rule follower, so I embossed the sentiments.

I told you that I already have the clear stamp version of these snowmen, but let’s chat about the advantage of the digital stamps.  You can make them any size you want.  What a difference to be able to let this sax player really shine!

Here’s an older card that I made with this set for last Christmas.  It was one of my favorites of all my 2021 Christmas cards!

I hope you’ll grab this set from the TCP store and Let the Flakes Fly!

Stampers Delights August Spotlight – Week 1

OK.  I know it’s August and not May, but you know I’m a sucker for a good dad joke and when I saw this one I couldn’t wait to use it.  Plus, I had the perfect image from Stampers Delights.  It’s never too early to start on your Cinco de Mayo cards, right?  This Kawaii Cactus is just too much fun!

I printed him out, cut him with my ScanNCut and colored with my Copics.  I pretty much always make two cards, because it’s so easy to make a second as long as you’re making one.

This week’s Sketch Challenge helped me to make a fun and festive card.  I liked the use of the strips and added a nice warm sun as the circle.

I created the sentiment using Sailboat font that I downloaded from fontspace.com.  As always, if you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Dismayed.  HA!  I will hold onto this until May and then when I inevitably miss someone’s May birthday they will get this belated birthday card.

Octopi – Free For All Challenge #650

Today’s Free for All Challenge is funny animals! Yes please! I had this dad joke just waiting for a card.

HA! I love it! I’ve also combined this with the loose watercolor MIX challenge. I stamped the 3 octopi (?) and loosely watercolored them. Then I dug out this fun gelli print out of my background drawer and printed out the first part of the joke for the outside. It was a quick and easy card to make before we left for the beach this morning.

Daily Challenge Guest Designer!

I’ve been invited to be a guest designer on the Color Challenge team for the month of August!  It’s always so fun to be a part of such a talented team!
This week Barbara had chosen Coastal Cabana, Polished Punk, and Basic Black.

I’ve combined my card with this week’s Technique Lover’s Challenge and made my faux handmade paper by daubing white and the closest thing I had to Coastal Cabana on black cardstock. The instructions said to also daub metallic but I opted for a simple gold rub around the edges. Barbara’s choice of birds for dessert had me looking for a stamp with a bird and flower. I bought this sweet Stampendous Cling Cherry Bird stamp at a clearance sale recently and knew these colors were perfect for it!

But, wait, that’s not all.  I was also invited to be a guest designer on the Sketch Challenge team for the next six months!  I had so much fun the last time I was on this team, I stayed on for a whole year!

A friend of mine asked me to make an 80th birthday card for someone who loves to sew. I didn’t have room on the front of this card for an “80”, but it says “Happy 80th birthday” inside. On the outside, I chose this adorable Penny Black Sew Nice stamp and a quilted look to the background.  I bought this at the same clearance sale as the Cherry Bird.  That was a good day. And isn’t this PTI sentiment just wonderful and perfect for this card?

Bless Your Hearth – TCP July Release

I know we’re all excited for the August release soon, but I am still having fun with the fun Christmas in July release!  How is you Christmas card stash coming along?  I’ve made some decent progress this month.  I was particularly excited to make a card with the fun Bless Your Hearth digital stamps.  And this week’s Sketch Challenge inspired me to also use the Holiday Toppers SVGs.

I use Microsoft Word to print out my digital stamps and when I inserted the two stamps into my Word document, I decided to also bring in the Holiday Toppers file to see how it would all work out and see how well it worked for the sketch.

It’s exciting to see how closely the card comes out compared to the original plan.  This one worked out just right.  I tried something a little different on this card.  I normally cut my images out with a border.  But I used my ScanNCut to cut these penguins without a border.  Then I added a border and cut again on plain black cardstock.  I offset it a bit behind the image as a shadow.  Something about the glow of a fireplace inspired me to have a shadow.

I added a few finishing touches of Stickles for sparkle, Nuvo glaze for the glass of milk, and some sparkly rhinestone snowflake stickers.  Feels pretty festive to me!

A Tearful Card – Clean and Simple Challenge #699

Today’s Clean and Simple Challenge is fresh produce. My card actually uses an onion that has been in my fridge for a while, so it wasn’t exactly freshly picked. Fortunately, I didn’t form too much of an emotional bond with it and was willing to sacrifice it to make this card. I feel a little bad about it, but I take solace in the knowledge that the onion will live on in this fabulous background. I also stamped a few extra backgrounds because I thought the onion stamp looked so cool.

I had this cute TCP chef bunny that came with a little knife and an empty tray and knew he was perfect for this card. I drew the onions onto the tray with a gel pen. They looked pretty weird until I colored them in and brought them to life.

Isn’t this sentiment fun?  I made it using the Arten font that you can download for free from fontbundles.net.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Wise Doctor – Free For All Challenge #647

Yesterday, for the Free for All Challenge, Jeanne challenged us to make blue cards. I had this guy on my to do list and thought he would look good in blue. Then I dug through my background drawer and found this background that had been made by stamping with big bubble wrap and water. I had seen this funny doctor joke somewhere and wanted to use it on a get well card. Once I had it printed out, I had the idea to ink up my embossing folder that looks like illegible script and stamp that onto the background. I love the way it came out.

If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image above and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

This wasn’t the only get well card that I made yesterday.  A friend asked me for a card for her friend that broke his leg.  I suggested this design and told her that I have a ton of old road maps.  She asked for Scranton, PA on the card.  I’m so excited about this map that I had.  It’s from 1973.

Christmas in July – The Cat’s Pajamas July Release

Season’s tweetings!  Are you ready for a little bit of Christmas in July?  It’s never too early to start on your Christmas card stash.  Actually, I think I’m a little late!  This month’s TCP release has everything you need to catch up on those Christmas cards.  I just love the Winter Elements SVGs.  I mean, seriously, how cute is this sweet cardinal?  Add in the Holiday Toppers and Holiday Sayings and I could play for days.

I’m excited because I tried something new on this card.  I have a friend that uses heat transfer vinyl (HTV) on her cards often.  I’ll admit to thinking that was crazy until I realized I have a lot of small bits of vinyl left over from other projects that would be perfect to use on a card.

What do you think? Look how good that sentiment looks.  The hardest part was remembering to mirror the file so it would cut properly.  All the other bits are cut out of paper and embellished with Stickles and Nuvo Glaze.  I dare you to add some HTV on your cards!  And let me know how it goes!

Stampers Delights July Spotlight – Week 2

Where my boy moms at?  How many of you have lived the baseball life?  This is my first summer of All-Star baseball, but I can tell it won’t be my last.  This week, my boy and his team played in the State Tournament.  Obviously, I had to make him a “good luck” card.  Lucky for me, I found the perfect image at Stampers Delights.  This card uses the adorable Chibi – Baseball 2 digital stamp.

I printed it out with my kid’s number and team name on the jersey and colored with my Copics.

He told him coach on the first day of practice that he could call him “Wheels”, so they all do.  We told him with a nickname like Wheels he better run fast!

Our ball field was designed to be a miniature Fenway Park, so I used this reference photo to draw in and color the background.

I finished off the card with last week’s Sketch #913.  I die cut a circle and made it into a baseball and drew in the lines for the sketch with a Sharpie.
