Not My Cup of Tea – Clean and Simple Challenge #672

Lisa is hosting this week’s CAS challenge and she wants us to feature our favorite drinks. Tea has always been my favorite. I’ve been drinking it since I was a kid–several cups a day. So I went searching the internet for a fun tea joke and found this one.

This is made with my very own font that I designed using calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Tacos Fall Apart – Featured Stamper #779

Today’s Featured Stamper is leslielarkin. Leslie has such a wonderful gallery, I wanted to CASE all her fun cards. She uses DSP so well. I couldn’t decide between using Witty-Cisms by leslielarkin at Splitcoaststampers and Whale Done by leslielarkin at Splitcoaststampers so I combined the two.

You know I can’t resist a good pun, so they both spoke to me.  I started by stamping black and white tacos with little pink cheeks to make my own DP. Then I stamped and colored the focal taco. I chose to use some fun bright DP behind my black and white tacos in honor of Leslie’s fabulous work.  It took me a while to decide between “Let’s taco ’bout it” and “Let’s taco ’bout your birthday.”  In fact, I had the party hats all ready to go for this card.  But once I decided on this inside sentiment, “Let’s taco ’bout it” won out.

This is made with my very own font that I designed using calligraphr.com.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Dino Classmate – MIX Challenge #466

It’s Friday and today’s MIX Challenge was hosted by Lydia who gave us a very fun background technique to try.  I rarely think to use my gelli plate but I’m always excited when a challenge calls for it,   I thought my background had a prehistoric quality that would be cool for this Tea Rex. I had a store bought card with this joke that made me laugh so hard, I had to use it.  And I think the fact that he is standing there sipping tea really adds to the fun.

You can find the whole saying below if you want to save it for yourself:

Alcohol – Sketch Challenge #886

It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for the Sketch Challenge. This was a fun and easy sketch to use up some scraps. I chose to combine it with Lisa’s VSN Challenge to use dogs on our cards. I love this cute dog die from The Cat’s Pajamas. He was good to use on a funny card. You can find the whole saying below if you want to save it for yourself:

Holy Sheet! – Teapot Tuesday #690

It’s Teapot Tuesday.  I have the honor of hosting this week’s Tea Party for Ciara in Ohio who is recovering from a really bad car accident.  When I read Ciara’s story, it took me back to the night my father-in-law was in a similar accident.  They had many of the same injuries.  We didn’t think he was going to make it, but thanks to the miracle workers at Mass General Hospital and a lot of rehab and physical therapy, he did.  I pray that Ciara receives such excellent care on her road to recovery.  Ciara loves Halloween, so we are sending her some Halloween giggles in her favorite color combo – baby blue and black.

On this card, I’ve used stamps from Instagram giveaways from two of our SCS friends! The Picket Fence Studios ghost background stamp came from Angie (ohmypaper!) and the Ink Road ghosts came from Stef (smilynstef). I embossed the background ghosts on baby blue paper and popped up the main ghosts on action wobbles.

This is my favorite Halloween sentiment.  I found my original font that I thought I had lost when I switched computers.  I made this font on calligraphr.com. You should try it.  It’s so fun to make your own font!

Bosses’ Day 2021 – Free for All Challenge #607

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for a Free for All Challenge. Angie is our hostess and she has challenged us to make fall cards.

You guys, Bosses’ Day is next week. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that. I wasn’t until my friend asked me to make her a card for her boss. Now I have to make one for mine, too. About ten years ago–before I learned to make my own cards, I bought a Bosses’ Day card that said “We looked up boss in the dictionary…it said quit fooling around and get back to work.” Since I have a different boss now, I can use that on this card. And I’ve been really good about keeping my computer generated sentiments as PNG files, so they’ll be easy to use again. That means you can use it too!

It’s made with Spring Market font.  I can’t remember where I got it.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Round Up – Teapot Tuesday #689

It’s Teapot Tuesday.  Today’s Tea Party is for Gracie’s 95 year old father-in-law who is isolated in his assisted living facility due to Covid restrictions. Rex loves the outdoors and used to have a farm, so I took the opportunity to use this farm/math joke that I found when I was looking for a different joke recently.

It’s made with Retro Board font.  I can’t remember where I got it.  If you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

But I was so focused on the farm and the joke that I forgot about Polly’s SMILE challenge. Oops! Sorry, Polly!

Recycled Anniversary Remake – Sketch Challenge #873

It’s Wednesday and time for another Sketch Challenge.  This was a nice simple one.  Perfect for remaking this anniversary card that I really liked.

This had been an anniversary card that my Gram had sent to my aunt and uncle.  I really loved the inside verse, so I die cut it and put it on the outside.  I die cut the rest of the card and arranged it on the outside too, and embellished with some glitter and metallic cardstock and an arrow paper clip.  For today’s card I recreated the sentiment using Papyrus font.  I know font snobs snub their nose at Papyrus, but I wanted a basic font and I think it actually worked well here.

If you’d like to use it on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

More Sugar! – Free For All Challenge #605

Today’s Free for All  Challenge is Halloween cards with monsters. I just bought this stamp from The Cat’s Pajamas clearance sale, so I was excited to use it. This is pretty much a one layer card until I added the sentiment banner. I stamped the zombie and masked a moon around him. Sponged the night sky and the ground. Splattered water and some white paint. Then I colored the zombie and drew in the ground and a bit of a shadow line. As usual, I got my Tim Holtz Grunge stencil out for the craters of the moon. To finish off the edges, I rubbed them with Nuvo mousse.

I saw this zombie joke on Facebook recently, and I thought it would be fun for the inside.  It was certainly fun to design using Courtside and Showcard Gothic fonts.  Here is the PNG if you would also like to use it:

Dust! – Technique Challenge #865

Monday is my favorite day because it means it’s time for the Technique Lovers Challenge. Lyn is our hostess this week and she has challenged us to try Dina’s Double Water Stencil Technique.  It’s so fun.

This is my kind of Technique Challenge. Two fun backgrounds for the price of one. And I love the way they both came out. I decided I wanted to use this mouse digi from Craftin Desert Divas, so I grabbed a polka dotted stencil for a cheesy feel to the background. I used my Fabriano Hot Press paper for the technique, because I know I can always count on that paper where water is involved.  I sponged it with Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and Tea Dye DOX inks.

For the sentiment I used Birdy font that I had downloaded free from Fontbundles.net.  I created it in Microsoft Word and saved it as a PNG file for future use.  If you’d like to use it on your cards just right click on the image and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.
