Stampers Delights November Inspiration

Hello and welcome to my last Design Team post for Stampers Delights.  It’s been such a great experience and I’m thankful to Janice for giving me this fun opportunity.  For the month of November, we’re highlighting Christmas/Winter images on the Stampers Delights blog.  I’ve used the Kawaii Coco 4 Coco digital stamp for today’s card. What a fun image to warm up a cold winter day!

I felt like making her a fun mixed media background and here is my step by step process:

I started by pulling a piece of cardstock out of my background drawer that I had stamped with big bubble wrap.  Then I stamped big snowflakes all over it.  I drizzled some acrylic paint on top.  The pain has glitter in it, so it really sparkles.  After I took that last picture, I also rubbed a bit of blue Inka Gold in some spots to give it more depth and I finished off by applying Nuvo Mousse and Glitter Paste through a snowflake stencil.  I love all the shimmer, shine, and texture!

Stampers Delights November Spotlight

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, isn’t it? Feels like the day after Halloween all the Christmas started coming out of the woodwork.  That’s quite alright with me!   And for the month of November, we’re highlighting Christmas/Winter images on the Stampers Delights blog.  I’ve used the Chibi Xmas Decorations digital stamp for today’s card. Isn’t she so sweet?  She couldn’t possibly be on the naughty list!

I had so much fun coloring her up with my Copic Markers, and added some pizazz with Nuvo drops and Stickles.

Stampers Delights October Spotlight

Well, friends, it’s October already.  Time for Halloween!  My kids remind me of that nearly every day.  I’m sharing two Stampers Delights cards today.  We are spotlighting Fall/Halloween images this month.  This card uses the Kawaii – Scary Cake Frankie digital stamp.

So fun!  I really enjoyed coloring this image with my Copics and chose to simply feature it on a clean and simple card with a bit of stenciling behind it.

My second card features another sweet Kawaii image – Flying Witch digital stamp.  Isn’t she so fun?

I noticed that she had striped leggings on so I decided that those must be ruby slippers and colored her up to look like the witch that Dorothy’s house fell on.

The background of this card is a mixture of random bits from my backgrounds drawer.  Honestly, these bits are years in the making.  The main panel is a shaving cream background done with black reinker.  One day I was experimenting with making my own texture paste and added some of that to that shaving cream background through a fun stencil.  I thought it would make a cool Halloween background and I sponged some purple ink on the edges.  Then I found this die cut circle that had been splattered with white paint and thought that would give kind of a cool moon vibe.  I may have gotten a bit carried away with the Stickles in the end.  I can’t really help myself.

Stampers Delights September Spotlight – Week 1

It’s September and all this month Stampers Delights is spotlighting Fall/Halloween images!  This card uses the Kawaii – So Corny digital stamp.

I’m pretty much obsessed with foiling lately, so I decided I wanted to make a foiled background of these fun candy corns.  I used my laser printer to print out a bunch of random candy corns to make the background.  Then I ran it through my laminator with gold foil and colored with Copics.  I love the look of the foil on the candy corn.  Here is another photo to see the metallic gold shine.

This week’s Sketch Challenge helped me with the card design.

Here are the outside and inside sentiments of my card.  As always, if you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Stampers Delights August Spotlight – Week 2

The sale continues at Stampers Delights, and today I am showcasing the adorable Chibi – It’s a Girl digital stamp.  OMG.  I can’t stand the cuteness!

I printed her out, cut her with my ScanNCut and colored with my Copic markers.  Then I went digging through my scrap drawer for coordinating pink scraps for the background.  If I weren’t using pink scraps, I would have colored the box pink, but instead I chose to give her a Tiffany style box.

This week’s Sketch Challenge helped me use up those pink scraps and make a fun background.

It was a quick and easy card and just needed a little bit of bling to finish it off. I went looking for something with a more diamond look, but couldn’t resist these fabulous rhinestones that I had in my stash.  They pull out the color of the box so well.

Stampers Delights August Spotlight – Week 1

OK.  I know it’s August and not May, but you know I’m a sucker for a good dad joke and when I saw this one I couldn’t wait to use it.  Plus, I had the perfect image from Stampers Delights.  It’s never too early to start on your Cinco de Mayo cards, right?  This Kawaii Cactus is just too much fun!

I printed him out, cut him with my ScanNCut and colored with my Copics.  I pretty much always make two cards, because it’s so easy to make a second as long as you’re making one.

This week’s Sketch Challenge helped me to make a fun and festive card.  I liked the use of the strips and added a nice warm sun as the circle.

I created the sentiment using Sailboat font that I downloaded from fontspace.com.  As always, if you’d like to use this on your cards just right click on the image below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Dismayed.  HA!  I will hold onto this until May and then when I inevitably miss someone’s May birthday they will get this belated birthday card.

Stampers Delights July Spotlight – Week 2

Where my boy moms at?  How many of you have lived the baseball life?  This is my first summer of All-Star baseball, but I can tell it won’t be my last.  This week, my boy and his team played in the State Tournament.  Obviously, I had to make him a “good luck” card.  Lucky for me, I found the perfect image at Stampers Delights.  This card uses the adorable Chibi – Baseball 2 digital stamp.

I printed it out with my kid’s number and team name on the jersey and colored with my Copics.

He told him coach on the first day of practice that he could call him “Wheels”, so they all do.  We told him with a nickname like Wheels he better run fast!

Our ball field was designed to be a miniature Fenway Park, so I used this reference photo to draw in and color the background.

I finished off the card with last week’s Sketch #913.  I die cut a circle and made it into a baseball and drew in the lines for the sketch with a Sharpie.

Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge – May

It’s May 1st, and it’s time for another Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge.  Head on over to the Stampers Delights Delights Facebook Fan Group and check it out!  Join each month to receive the monthly image for free!  This month is a Kawaii Seahorse with so many fun possibilities!  Click below for details:

I was in the mood for glitter when I sat down to make my card.  OK, I know, when am I not in the mood for glitter?  But I REALLY felt like using glitter.  So I got out my micro glitter and made a fun ocean background for this guy.  I find these glitter backgrounds to be so fun to make.  It’s all about the order of your masks.  First I cut a seaweed shaped mask and put that down, then I added a circle stencil and applied the darker blue glitter.  After I took off the circle stencil, I added the lighter blue glitter.  Here’s a photo from just before I took off the seaweed mask on the second card:

It’s like magic.  After I made my background, I started thinking about what color I wanted for my seahorse.  I almost didn’t color him at all, but decided an orange seahorse would really pop.  If you know me, you know I have a thing for googly eyes. I think they make everything better.  So I got my googly eyes out and started playing.  Often, when I can’t decide which size I want, I take pictures of each option, so I can see them together.

It was a tough choice and I don’t think there was a wrong answer here, but what do you think? Do you think I made the right decision?  Speaking of decisions.  My next decision also required a side by side comparison.  How to arrange the sentiment:

But, you know what?  I realized that I was making two cards and I could use both arrangements of the sentiment.  I do prefer the one on the right, though.

Here’s a close-up of all that sparkle:

OOOH! I love it!  Can’t wait to see what you do with this fun image. Make sure you join in–you’ve got all month!

Stampers Delights April Release – Chibi Meg

Today I’m sharing the Stampers Delights Chibi April release.  You can find the entire April release here.  This card uses the Chibi – Meg digital stamp.

Isn’t she so sweet?  I knew I had the perfect succulent stencil for a background for this cutie.  I did some masking on the stencil to get different colors on the insides and outsides of the leaves.  The background came out so big that there wasn’t much more that I had to do other than cut and color Meg and pop her up on the card.  I did cut the card a little bit smaller than the envelope, so she could hang off the edge for a little added interest.

Stampers Delights April Release – Kawaii Cactus Bundle

It’s April, and that means it’s time for a new release from Stampers Delights.  You can find the entire April release here.  This card uses a fun cactus from the Cactus Bundle digital stamp.

These cactuses have so much personality and they come with such fun puns!  I needed an encouraging card and I thought the “You Are Looking Sharp” was the perfect sentiment for what I needed.

I wanted to have two cactuses encouraging each other–a fun cactus high five.  I know there are many choices of cactus, but I wanted to show how easy it is with a digital stamp to mirror the stamp for two cactuses.  These two cool cactuses don’t mind a prickly high five.

I colored them with Spectrum Noir and Copic Markers and masked them to sponge some sunshine behind them.  Then I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the sunglasses and rocks to bring them to life.  If you look closely, you’ll notice that this close up shot doesn’t have the “action lines” around their high five.  I realized after I took this photo that I needed to draw those lines in.  I don’t know about you, but I spot a lot of things that my cards need once I look at them through the camera lens.
