Where the Heart Is – Free For All Challenge #635

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for a Free 4 All Challenge.  Jeanne has challenged us to make pink backgrounds today. I needed another card for my coworker who just bought a new condo, so I chose this sweet MFT background stamp for my pink background. I sponged Spun Sugar all over the white cardstock and then stenciled hearts to match my sentiment. I computer generated the sentiment because somehow I do not have a stamp that says “Home is where the heart is.” And I always finish off that sentiment with “even if you can’t remember which box you packed it in.”  I think it is so appropriate for someone who just moved to a new place.

As always I’m sharing the sentiment here if you’d like to use it.  Just right click on the images below and save it to your computer.  If you use it, I’d love to see it, so please tag me @cardsbyjennifrann and #thestampingactuary.

Polar Bear Polar Bear – MIX Challenge #461

For today’s MIX Challenge, Polly has challenged us to make cards inspired by Eric Carle. My card is based on “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?”

My kids have that one and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear.” I’ve never read the caterpillar one. Honestly, I chose this book because I was so excited to use my MFT Polar Bear Pals stamps.  They’ve been on my wish list for years, and I finally got them.  For some extra inspiration I checked out the MFT sketch challenge:

and this week’s MFT color challenge:

I was especially excited to actually have the Prestige cardstock in each of these colors.  I chose Eiffel Tower as my card base.  The other colors were approximated using Distress Ink and Copic Markers.  Three fun challenges to combine into one fun Christmas card.

Gull-ible – Featured Stamper Challenge #742

Today’s Featured Stamper is Martinaskaartjes. What a fun gallery Martina has. I had such fun browsing for a card to CASE. When I found this one I knew it was the perfect opportunity to use both the seagull stamp set and this die that I keep forgetting I have.

Thanks for the inspiration, Martina!  The inside of my card is “How gull-ible do you think I am?” Hehehe.

And Stickles add just the right amount of sparkle:

Bunny in the City – Inspiration Challenge #800

Today is the Inspiration Challenge.  Julie brought us to Design Stack to browse for card inspiration.  I was inspired by this post to use my newest addition to my MFT collection – the City Block Background.

I stamped in  Versafine Clair Morning Mist and embossed with clear EP. Then I sponged Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberry, and Spun Sugar based on the MFT Color Challenge #163.

I thought it would be a good idea to splatter some water on it, but it wasn’t. Oh well. It’s fine. It needed a critter and I guess I have bunnies on the brain since Easter is coming tomorrow, and I turned and spotted the MFT Sunny Vibes stamp set hanging nearby.

Virtual Stamp Night!

This past weekend was Virtual Stamp Night! One of my favorite weekends of the year.  The theme was Parks & Recreation which resulted in a lot of fun cards.  I spent two hours each night on Zoom meetings with my dear SCS friends.  Chatting with them always puts me in a good mood!

There was Lisa’s Zoo Animals challenge:

My dad has a T-shirt that says “Every zoo is a petting zoo if you’re brave enough.” I chuckle every time I see him wearing it.  I also chuckle every time I put it on a card.

Then there was Sonja’s Marble Technique challenge:

I got out my Wow! embossing powders and tried the Embossed Marble Background tutorial.

Kelly challenged us to “Trail off the Page”:

And Rebekah’s Swing Challenge:

The swings were always my favorite thing at the playground.

Rita wanted to see flower silhouettes on our cards:

Misti’s challenge was to use some form of transportation on our cards:

I’ve never gone out on a canoe at the park, but we do take our boat out from the boat ramp at the park regularly in the summer.  The trick is–you have to time the tide or you’ll get stranded.  I just love this Avery Elle Camp Wanna-Stamp stamp set!

Melody’s challenge had to do with slides:

Why did they cross the playground? To get to the other slide!  My kids cross the playground often to get to the other slide.

Lee gave us a fun sketch:

This card focused more on the “recreation” part of Parks & Recreation.

And I hosted a “Sports at the Park” challenge:

That’s what my kids said is the most fun thing to do at the park.  Play sports.  Just this month, they have played both baseball and basketball with friends at the park.  This little bear is playing baseball at the park.  But I think he has a black eye.  “I wondered why the ball was getting bigger…then it hit me.”

And I still have six more VSN Challenges to finish.  Stay tuned!
